Proposed amendments to the Consti­tution and Bylaws of the American Bar Association summarized below have been duly filed with the Secretary of the Asso­ciation by the indicated sponsoring members of the Association for consideration by the House of Delegates at the 2006 Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Ha­waii. Copies of the full text of these proposals will be published in the book of reports to the House of Delegates and are also available via the Internet on the ABA Web Site under the House of Del­egates on the ABA Leadership Page @http:// www.abanet.org/leadership/delegates.html (click on 2006 Hawaii Annual Meeting). These proposals are also available to any member upon request to the Division for Policy Administration at the American Bar Center, 321 N. Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60610, 312/988-5230.

I: Notice is hereby given that Edward Haskins Jacobs proposes to amend § 1.2 of the Constitution to include the following language as one of the purposes of the Association: “to defend the right to life of all innocent human beings, including all those conceived but not yet born.”

II: Notice is hereby given that Vicki Goodman (Principal Sponsor), Brian J. Redar, LeAnne McGill, Eric Koester, Jared Hautamaki, Michael DePetrillo, Rhonda Wilson, Chad Laliberte, Cherie Phoenix, Ericke Cage, Eric S. Lashner, Alan C. Nash, Carrie Tenschert, Jessica M. Smith, Stephen L. Hennessy, Alex Raminfar, Collin R. Walke, Jaimy N. Serbin, Nate Bernstein, Gary C. McDonald, Dana L. Glassel and Jason J. Redd propose to amend § 26.1(c) of the Bylaws to change the term of the law student member-at-large of the Board of Governors from a two-year term to a one-year term.

III: Notice is hereby given that Harvey B. Rubenstein (Principal Sponsor), Jerome J. Shestack, Wallace D. Riley, Katherine H. O’Neil, Alice Richmond, Stephen L. Tober, W. Scott Welch III, Charles R. Brown, Dwight L. Smith, Lee S. Kolczun, Keith Watters, Carolyn B. Lamm, Bruce Stargatt, J. Michael McWilliams, Dennis L. Schrader, Bernice B. Donald and Robert A. Zupkus propose to amend § 31.7 of the Bylaws to provide that at least two members of the Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility must be solo practitioners and two must be small firm practitioners in a firm with 2-5 lawyers; and that at least two members of the Standing Committee on Professional Discipline must be solo practitioners and two must be small firm practitioners in a firm with 2-5 lawyers.

IV: Notice is hereby given that Robert T. Gonzales (Principal Sponsor), Gerald T. Giaimo, Shawn D. Guse, C. Timothy Hopkins, Ernestine S. Sapp, James R. Silkenat, Palmer Gene Vance II and Armando Lasa-Ferrer propose to amend § 2.1(g) of the Constitution to realign Dis­trict 2 and District 4 based on changes in lawyer population figures.

V: Notice is hereby given that Robert T. Gonzales (Principal Sponsor), Gerald T. Giaimo, Shawn D. Guse, C. Timothy Hopkins, Ernestine S. Sapp, James R. Silkenat, Palmer Gene Vance II and Armando Lasa-Ferrer propose to amend various sections of the Constitution and Bylaws as housekeeping amendments.
