The association has entered into a 15-year lease to occupy some 61,000 square feet in a building known as Washington Square at 1050 Connecticut Ave. NW. In December, the ABA closed on the sale of a building at 740 15th St. NW to JBC Funds 740 LLC, a subsidiary of the John Buck Co. The D.C. staff of about 250 was spread over seven floors there but will share one floor at the new building, with meeting space on a second floor.

“The new location allows the ABA to more efficiently utilize its space,” said ABA Executive Director Jack L. Rives on March 6 when the lease agreement was announced. “With access to natural light on all four sides and an exceptional amenities package, the state-of-the-art facility offers an improved work environment for all employees.” The commercial real estate services firm Studley assisted the ABA on both transactions.

The ABA’s primary headquarters are in Chicago, where its lease was recently extended through June 30, 2024. For more, see “Change of Address,” February.
