The suspect in a mass shooting at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater has been released from the hospital after reportedly ramming his head into the wall of his jail cell.
James Holmes was back in jail on Thursday afternoon, the Associated Press reports. Authorities wouldn’t say why Holmes was in the hospital, but sources told the Denver Post he had rammed his head into the wall.
Sources told CBS4 that Holmes had made several “half-hearted” suicide attempts, one involving the head-ramming and another a jump from his bed. Sources told ABC15, however, that those actions were not suicide attempts, and the concern is about Holmes’ demeanor rather than his physical heath.
A judge postponed a court hearing on Thursday to accommodate the hospital trip. Public defender Tamara Brady refused to state the reason for the hospitalization in the courtroom, but said, “It’s not as simple as a migraine.”
