With about 150 entries for this month’s contest featuring the Grim Reaper in the jury box, our staff enjoyed selecting the following five finalists. Now it’s your turn to vote for your favorite:
“I knew I should have saved that last peremptory.” —submitted by Francis P. Gainer of Miami, Fla.
“Let me remind you, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the death penalty is NOT an option in this patent infringement case.” —submitted by Marc P. Lawrence of Novi, Mich.
She wasn’t sure why, but Rita couldn’t shake the feeling that her defense in the capital punishment case was doomed. —submitted by Brent McDonald of Salt Lake City, Utah
“Normally in a capital murder case I wouldn’t ask a juror if he had any business interests that might interfere with his ability to render a fair and impartial verdict…” —submitted by Thomas B. Cochrane of Westerville, Ohio
“It appears I may be talking one of you to death.” —submitted by Maria House of Tupelo, Miss.
How to vote: Using our poll, select the caption you think best fits the scene depicted in the cartoon.
Voting period: Votes for the February “Grim Reaper” contest must be cast by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23.
What’s the prize?: Bragging rights. Plus, the winning caption and credit to the caption writer will appear in an upcoming issue of the ABA Journal.
