Lawyer upset over wet concrete accused of threatening workers with loaded gun

Jul 9, 2013, 05:45 pm CDT

An Orlando attorney was arrested last week, accused of threatening workers at his apartment complex with a loaded .45-caliber pistol.

Jeffrey Ainsworth told the apartment manager he was going to shoot a contractor who was laying a concrete floor outside his unit, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Citing a police report, the Sentinel reported that “Ainsworth walked over to a table and pulled the gun out again and loaded a bullet in the magazine and chambered a round.” An office manager told police he was in fear for his life when Ainsworth waved the gun around his office. The contractor complained to police that Ainsworth, who practices bankruptcy, probate and trust law, was upset and threatened to sue because he felt trapped in his apartment.

The confrontation was captured on surveillance cameras. Charged with aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon and reckless display of a firearm, Ainsworth was released Wednesday after posting $2,750 bail, the Sentinel reports.
