Citing an unprecedented drop in law school applications across the country, the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law is cutting its enrollment and staffing.
Over the next three years, total enrollment at the Sacramento, Calif., law school will be reduced to about 600 students, reports the Sacramento Bee. That student body tallied 1,036 in the fall of 2010.
Meanwhile, nine layoffs were made last week, although a spokeswoman said "staff realignment was largely achieved by voluntary actions," such as retirement and voluntary severance. Identities and positions of those laid off are largely unreported.
