At least 100 individuals gathered outside a scheduled school board meeting in New York state on Monday to protest the language used by an attorney working for an outside law firm that represents the district, at a recent public meeting.
Attorney Christoper Kirby is shown on video, both during and immediately after the East Ramapo meeting last week, using offensive language. President Yehuda Weissmandl told attendees at Monday’s meeting that the board disassociates itself from Kirby’s remarks. The board also voted Monday to terminate the contract of the law firm, Minerva & D’Agostino, which Weissmandl says has apologized for the July 2 incident, reports the Journal News.
“We need to learn a lesson from what happened last week,” Weissmandl told the audience at a packed meeting last night. “We need to make clear to ourselves and to our community that we will do everything we can to make sure that this doesn’t happen again.”
