Which ‘everyone wears stripes’ cartoon caption fits best? Vote now

Jan 15, 2014, 04:15 pm CST

This cartoon proved to be a bit more challenging to our audience. But there were more than 250 enthusiastic entries, many of which played off the idea of defendants getting a jury of their peers. ABA Journal staff enjoying picking their favorite captions for this cartoon, in which everyone in the courtroom is dressed in stripes.

Now it’s your turn to vote at ABAJournal.com/polls and pick which caption (with credit to the author) will appear in an upcoming issue of the ABA Journal:

• “Judge Jones’ ‘Pajama Friday’ idea lasted only one week.” —William R. Hintze, Fort Sam Houston, Texas

• “A huge turnout for this year’s Bring Your Client to Work Day.” —Mary B. Matterer, Wilmington, Del.

• “The man that attacked you, this Mr. Waldo, is he in the courtroom today? Can you please point to him?” —Alfredo W. Amoedo, San Francisco, Calif.

This proposed caption from Jordan Reilly, of Eldora, Iowa, was my favorite: “What know the laws that thieves do pass on thieves?” My colleagues didn’t pick it as a finalist, but I’m curious if–without using a Web search–anyone recognizes the line. Let us know in the comments!
