Which law schools are most popular? Cheap but lower-tier schools make the top 10

Mar 20, 2013, 12:53 pm CDT

Corrected: The 10 most popular law schools—meaning the law schools with the highest rates of accepted students who go on to enroll—include three lowest-tier schools.

No. 1 ranked Yale Law School tops the list of law schools with the highest yield rates. About 83 percent of students who get offers from the school go on to enroll, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Also making the list are three law schools that are not given a ranking because they are put in the bottom quarter by U.S. News. They are: North Carolina Central University (which once topped a list of best value law schools), Liberty University (emphasizing Christian intellectual tradition), and Southern University Law Center (also on a list of the cheapest law schools).

The national yield average is 25.2 percent. The top 10 law schools with the best yields are:

1) Yale University (82.9%)

2) Brigham Young University (64.2%)

2) Harvard University (64.2%)

4) University of Nevada at Las Vegas (53.5%)

5) University of New Mexico (48.9%)

6) North Carolina Central University (48.2%)

7) Southern University Law Center (47.5%)

8) Stanford University (46.9%)

9) Liberty University (45.4%)

10) University of Hawaii at Manoa (45.3%)

Corrected on March 22 to clear up confusion caused by using “acceptance rate” and “yield rate” interchangeably.
