These trials are a ridiculous farce! The Justice Dept. and Defense Dept. have made a royal mess of these things with a 3-4 year “detour” for torture, these “Star Chamber” proceedings over ten years after the fact, arcane rules, no transparency (because of the torture).
I absolutely feel for the families of the 9-11 victims. This has been an ordeal for them and they must be disappointed, frustrated, confused and ignored.
We hold ourselves out to be such a moral country and now the words uttered by our best jurists at Nuremburg damn us today. This was entirely forseeable and avoidable. It is also disgusting and almost comic if it were not so tragic and awful.
History will judge us harshly for this, and rightfully so: If ever we occupied the moral high ground, we do not now.

My fellow Conservative like Yankee, Slipkid, Marc and others simply do not care about the moral high ground in issues like these. Conservatives only care about Constitutionality when a Republican is President.
