$7.4 million in gold at today’s prices would still have cost him around $540k if accumulated at the rough price of $125 (give or tqke) that gold sat around for decades. Even at the old $32 per ounce price when the US was on the gold standard, would still have cost him about $140k to accumulate that much gold.
