Dinsmore’s Lexington MP Sees Less ‘Burning Desire’ in New Lawyers

“But Terry has noticed a change in young lawyers. “Anymore, most of the young people you see coming into the practice of law are interested in the career as a financial means,” he told Business Lexington.”

That’s the problem, too many money-grubbing lawyers with no sense of fiduciary duty to their clients. The “profession” of law is a quaint notion. Now too many lawyers see clients as pawns to use to their own advantage.

If you don’t have the loans, it is probably difficult to imagine the impact to your life and career goals posed by a $1200 a month loan payment (non-dischargeable in bankruptcy, and much of it guaranteed to the bank by the federal government, no less). I suspect, however, that the 90 percent tution hikes correlate very well with the new lawyers’ mounting interest in the financial benefits of a legal career.

Maybe as this Kerry guy says, the students are just worse people than back in the day, but it strikes me that there might be other explanations.

Oh, THIS totally out-of-touch, yet still probably very nice guy is named “Terry,” not “Kerry.” I think that was a Freudian slip from a former Deaniac.
