Judge tells pro se murder defendant he’ll get a lawyer if he can’t follow trial rules

What was the case where someone - a defendant, or an attorney? - was hooked up to a gizmo which would give him a shock (mild) when the judge decided he was out of line? I like that approach where the judge is sort of stuck. The “right” to defend one’s self without legal help ought to be conditioned on good behavior, though it doesn’t seem like that is much of a factor sometimes..
