Confident, indeed.  I think anti-democratic a better description.  The conservatives have no regard for Congress or elected officials.  They disregard the findings on the effect of not buying medical insurance on the interstate health care market; they will next month disregard findings that racial discrimination in voting rules persist.  Chief Justice Roberts ahd his cohort closed their eyes to the fact that overcoming racial discrimination requires government effort, not just “stop discriminating on the basis of race.”

The court’s confidence extends to ignoring reality, as in Citizens United, not seeing the corruption that decision would unleash. I do not mean bribery as such, but intimidation.  Oh, yes, disclosure would cure the matter.  However, the Republicans block bills to do just that. 

I could go on about the gun cases, but we all have listened to the news lately on that tragic score.
