A good many women now succeeding in the law and elsewhere are unaware or even dismissive of their debt to their predecessors, including Ms. Povich and others like her, whose courage and determination started breakdowns in the old barriers and made it possible for the generations following them to progress as they have. I hope that books like Povich’s and posts like the one above will help to fix that lack of understanding.

I was a police reporter at daily newspapers before I became a lawyer - trust me, the Old Boys Club is still alive and well in both professions. Lawyers just pretend to be more enlightened about it.
