6 San Diego State Frats Suspended After Massive Drug Bust

After the arrest of 75 students and 21 others in a massive drug bust centered on San Diego State University, the school has suspended six fraternities pending a further investigation of their role.

Authorities said some frat members dealt drugs openly, and an affidavit contends that drug profits may have been used to pay for fraternity operations, reports the Associated Press.

"Two kilograms of cocaine were seized in all, along with 350 Ecstasy pills, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, hashish oil, methamphetamine, illicit prescription drugs, several guns and at least $60,000 in cash," the news agency writes.

As discussed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post, the university president has said he will shut down fraternities if they are found to have been involved "as organizations" in drug-dealing.

AP reported that the suspended fraternities are Theta Chi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Kappa Psi, Phi Kappa Theta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma Alpha Mu.
