Above the Law Founder Moving on to More Oversight Responsibilities

David Lat, founder and chief blogger for Above the Law, is moving on to new responsibilities that will require him to get dressed in the morning.

Lat will oversee Above the Law and two other blogs produced by Breaking Media: Dealbreaker.com and Fashionista.com, reports The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times. He will also help the company develop and launch new blogs. The job change requires Lat to move from Washington, D.C., to New York.

Above the Law reports on law firm gossip, often breaking stories about big-firm layoffs and office indiscretions. It has been described as “an addictive cult with hundreds of thousands of faithful readers spread across America." His previous blog, Underneath Their Robes, focused on gossip about the federal judiciary and featured a contest called “Superhotties of the Federal Judiciary.”

Lat will still write for Above the Law, but he is looking for a full-time editor to take over and determine the direction of the blog.

A hat tip to Legal Blog Watch.
