Another Lawyer Identified Who Walks and Works Simultaneously

Lawyers do a lot of sedentary work, but a new exercise device—a treadmill work station—offers a solution. A couple news stories say lawyers are picking up on the trend.

The latest is an article in the New York Times that found Minneapolis lawyer Terri Krivosha walks three miles a day on a treadmill while she works. She said it’s easier than getting up at the crack of dawn to attend an aerobics class.

“I thought it was ridiculous until I tried it,” Krivosha told the Times. She is a partner with Maslon Edelman Borman & Brand.

The story says the first known work-treadmill desk was constructed by a researcher who found that thin people burn about 350 more calories a day through ordinary activities like fidgeting and pacing. Work walkers can burn 100 to 130 calories an hour.

Another lawyer with a work treadmill is Winstead partner Ross Robinson.

The treadmill desks, known as Walkstations, can be purchased from Details for about $4,000.
