An 11-attorney group is making the move in Houston from Beirne Maynard & Parsons to Winstead.

Headed by partners Hilary Borow, Jay Brown and Steve Wedemeyer, the group focuses on commercial litigation. They are among 39 lateral attorneys hired by the Texas-based firm so far this year—and will not be the last, the firm says in a PR Newswire press release.

“We are thrilled with the high success rate of our collective efforts this first six months of 2011 and the exceptional attorneys who are joining the Winstead team,” says partner Peyton Smith, who is in charge of lateral hiring at the firm, in the release. He works with partners in each city in which the firm has offices to identify and recruit teams of laterals.

“Our city lateral hiring team shareholders are in high gear,” he says, “and we’ve enjoyed a proven record of identifying exceptional attorneys with strong books of business who work hard, are hungry for our team-oriented culture, and know that joining Winstead will give them the supportive platform and collaborative culture to better service their clients and take their practice to the next level.”

In addition to operating six law offices in Texas, the 272-attorney firm also maintains a presence in Charlotte, N.C., and Washington, D.C.
