13-attorney Sidley Austin office acquires enough office space for 60 lawyers
The Boston office of Sidley Austin has barely grown in the last few years.
It now has an attorney roster of 13, most of whom specialize in advising the financial services industry.
But that’s about to change. In recent months, the office has leased an entire floor that can accommodate 30 attorneys, and has an option to lease a second floor in the same building, founding partner Robert Buhlman tells the Boston Business Journal. He formerly worked for Bingham McCutchen before leading a group to Sidley.
He and partner Jack Pirozzolo expect significant lateral growth in 2016, and they are looking to hire more financial services lawyers and add both litigators and regulatory lawyers to the office’s life sciences group.
Although no firm number is planned, the two say they would like to see 40 to 60 attorneys at the office within the next few years.
Sidley has 1,900 lawyers in 19 offices in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Australia.
