$15M Drexel donor gives up law-school naming right; new benefactors sought
Drexel University’s law school will no longer be named after a graduate who gave $15 million to the school five years ago.
The donor, Earle Mack, “has graciously stepped aside as naming benefactor of Drexel’s law school,” the school said in a statement on Monday. The school noted a “very challenging” climate for legal education and said it needs “an economic foundation beyond what was established by his gift.” The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Associated Press have stories.
For now, the school’s name has changed from the Earle Mack School of Law to the Drexel University School of Law. The school earned full ABA accreditation in 2011.
Mack is a businessman and a former ambassador to Finland.
