2 Law Firms to Pay $600K in Cuomo Benefits Probe

A well-known Albany, N.Y., law firm that specializes in education law has agreed to settle a pension benefits probe with the state attorney general for $500,000.

In addiition to paying the state the $500,000, Girvin & Ferlazzo must also stop seeking arrangements in which partners in private practice at the firm accept public jobs in order to qualify for pension benefits, reports the Times Union.

Another upstate firm, Hogan, Sarzynski, Lynch, Surowka & DeWind, says it has agreed to pay about $100,000, according to Newsday.
