Two men who were reportedly scheduled to be sentenced by Tacoma Municipal Court Judge Elizabeth Verhey in Washington state are now charged concerning allegedly threats to kill her.

Ronald Ewing, 51, was arrested Wednesday and was arraigned Friday in Pierce County Superior Court on charges of intimidating a judge and felony harassment, reports the News Tribune.

His alleged cohort, Darrell Talbott, 61, who faces the same charges, is still being sought. The two allegedly were angry about a sentence that Verhey had given Talbott, who had appeared before her on a number of occasions, the newspaper says. And both Ewing and Talbott were scheduled to be sentenced by Verhey in the near future, Ewing in a case in which the charge isn’t reported and Talbott in a driving-under-the-influence case.

Allegedly, Talbott ordered guns over the telephone, and he and Ewing are accused of talking about “taking a ‘long shot” at Verhey with a rifle. The charges against the two are based on information provided by an unidentified witness.

Verhey reportedly is taking additional security measures, but is still hearing cases.
