Two Texas lawyers conspired with others to defraud clients who asked the attorneys to help them deal with credit card and other unsecured debt, contends a federal class action filed earlier this month in San Antonio.

Robert Ancel Palmer III and Scott Seideman also allegedly evaded state consumer protection regulations including attorney advertising rules that apply in Texas. The Palmer Firm of Dallas and Irvine, Calif., and the Seideman Law Firm of Dallas and Irvine, Calif., are also among the group of defendants named in the litigation, reports Texas Lawyer.

The article doesn't explain exactly how the alleged scheme worked. However, it says the debtors didn't get the relief they expected.

Palmer and Seideman did not respond to telephone messages left by the legal publication.

The plaintiffs are seeking plaintiffs compensatory and punitive damages, as well as attorney fees.

It is just horrible that all those people trying to weasel out of their debts (allegedly) got cheated like that.  What is the world coming to when a deadbeat can get honest help with the weaseling?
