Three men reportedly have been arrested in an alleged plot to hire a hitman to kill an attorney and a judge in an Alabama divorce case.

The targets of the plot, Buddy Williams, a lawyer in Ozark, and Dale County Circuit Court Judge Ken Quattlebaum, apparently were never attacked, but Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson says the defendants sought out a hitman to murder them, according to the Dothan Eagle. At least one more unnamed person was targeted for assassination, too, the newspaper reports.

Fred Daniels, 66, and his son, Garrett Daniels, 40, were arrested yesterday and charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, the Eagle wrote. A third man, Andrew Earl Garner, is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit murder, according to the Eagle and the Associated Press. All are being held without bond.

The alleged plot reportedly unraveled after an informant tipped authorities. During a six-month investigation, the defendants allegedly solicited an undercover police officer to perform the murders, using Garner as a middleman.
