Two men and one woman have been charged with arson over fires that occurred within hours of each other at a New Jersey prosecutor’s office and law firm.

Felix Lopez, 28; Guillermo A. Veloz, 18; and Zilia Perez, 36, were arrested Friday and charged with aggravated arson and conspiracy, among other offenses related to a Jan. 28 fire at the Vineland firm of Helmer, Conley & Kasselman and another fire early Jan. 29 at the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office in Bridgeton, according to the South Jersey Times.

Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton is handling the case to avoid a conflict of interest.

“Arson is a very serious matter, even more so when directed at a government building, as well as a law firm,” he said. “These individuals’ efforts to send a message, take matters into their own hands and disrupt our system of justice have not succeeded.”

The Atlantic City Press says authorities would not comment concerning a motive for the alleged arsons.
