A federal appeals court has ruled a woman who claims she was fired for having an abortion can sue for discrimination under Title VII.

The Philadelphia-based 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the federal discrimination law, as amended by the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, bars employers from firing or refusing to hire women who have had abortions, the Legal Intelligencer reports.

The court revived a lawsuit by the plaintiff, who says she was fired three days after having an abortion.
