K&L Gates is the only Pittburgh-based BigLaw firm without an office in Philadelphia.

But it now has one a short distance away in Wilmington, Del., which is opening with a four-lawyer corporate group from one of the city’s longtime top law firms.

Partners Eric Feldman, Nicholas Froio, Christina Houston and Scott Waxman have exited Potter Anderson & Corroon and started work Monday at the new K&L Gates office, report the Philadelphia Business Journal and Reuters. The men were partners at Potter Anderson and Houston served as principal counsel there, according to the firm’s website listings.

Waxman is the partner in charge of the new office. It is the 48th globally and 26th in the United States for K&L Gates, which has opened seven new offices so far this year.

“Delaware continues as the national center for formation of business enterprises, and these days newly formed alternative business entities outnumber traditional corporations by three to one,” said Peter Kalis, the law firm’s chairman and global managing partner, in a written statement provided to the Pittsburgh Business Times.
