Four senior partners, including two practice group leaders, will be exiting their New York law firm at the end of the month to form a new Buffalo office for a growing competitor.

Joining Woods Oviatt Gilman from Damon Morey, one of Buffalo’s oldest and largest law firms, will be William F. Savino, who chairs the Damon firm’s business litigation and insolvency group; Christian J. Henrich, who co-chairs its business and corporate department; and partners Anthony L. Eugeni and Brian D. Gwitt, reports the Buffalo News.

Although Woods Oviatt did not respond to a Buffalo News request for information about where the new office for the 160-year-old Rochester, N.Y.-based firm would be located, the managing partner of 85-attorney Damon Morey, which has been in business for nearly 100 years, confirmed their planned exit and said the firm is sorry to see them go.

Nonetheless, “We’ve got a firm that’s filled with excellent attorneys and terrific clients and we will continue to serve our clients as well as we always have,” managing partner Peter S. Marlette told the newspaper.
