Led by law firm co-founder Richard Black, six partners have exited Seattle intellectual property boutique Black Lowe & Graham for one of the state’s largest business law firms, Foster Pepper.

Left with 11 lawyers and agents, their former firm has changed its name to Lowe Graham Jones and is looking to hire more attorneys, reports the Seattle Times.

The acquisition of the Black Lowe team is a big boost for Foster Pepper’s IP practice, which until now had only two full-time lawyers, the newspaper says.

“We have been looking to add a strong patent team to our intellectual property group–especially a team with deep ties to the tech and venture communities. This addition will enable us to better serve the needs of our expanding business and litigation groups,” said Robert Kunold, Jr., who chairs the Foster Pepper’s executive committee, in a law firm press release. “This new group of attorneys is exactly what we have been looking for–smart lawyers with great clients and broad skills in IP transactional and litigation matters.”

The 120-attorney Foster Pepper firm, which is based in Seattle, also has a small office in Spokane, Wash.
