Depending on what kind of law an attorney practices, he or she has probably encountered a legal settlement that they considered a head-scratcher. We ourselves frequently come across settlements we consider unusual.
Whether it’s the terms of a wrongful-death settlement, the property distribution in a divorce, or the labeling allowed on a bottle of juice, many lawsuits end not with a bang, but with a puzzled “what?”
Though this is hardly an exhaustive list, we’ve compiled a few examples from the last couple of years which we consider odd for one reason or another. If you have examples of your own—especially if you can link to news coverage of the event—please tell us about them in the comment section below. You never know—we just might add them to our gallery!
