Miller Nash, a prominent Pacific Northwest business firm, acquired Newcomb, Sabin, Schwartz and Landsverk, a smaller business litigation and labor and employment firm, on Jan. 1. The merger of two of the region’s oldest law firms expands Miller Nash to 122 attorneys located in Portland and central Oregon, and Seattle and Vancouver, Wash., the firm announced in a press release.

Four former Newcomb Sabin attorneys joined Miller Nash, including four partners plus four staff members. The newly acquired group will be based in Portland and operate as members of a new Newcomb Sabin practice team within Miller Nash.

The two firms had a history of close relations and referrals, said Don Burns, managing partner of Miller Nash, who called the merger “a good opportunity” to expand his firm’s practices.
