Abbe Lowell among 15 lawyers leaving Norton Rose Fulbright

Abbe Lowell, the lawyer representing Jared Kushner in the Russia probe, is leaving Norton Rose Fulbright for Winston & Strawn.

Lowell is among 15 lawyers leaving the firm; the others are jumping to Reed Smith, the New York Law Journal has stories here and here. Reed Smith and Winston & Strawn posted press releases.

Lowell had co-chaired Norton Rose Fulbright’s U.S. regulations, investigations, securities, and compliance practice. Lowell was a Chadbourne & Parke partner before its merger with Norton Rose Fulbright last year. Lowell told the New York Law Journal he was “running into a number of conflicts and other issues” at the merged firm.

Norton Rose has also lost eight infrastructure and energy lawyers to Winston & Strawn, as well as two debt finance partners to Kirkland & Ellis, according to the New York Law Journal.

Norton Rose Fulbright managing partner Daryl Lansdale issued statements about the latest departures that noted the firm retained strong legal teams in the practice areas of the departing lawyers.

The lawyers heading to Reed Smith include five partners and two senior associates who will become partners. They will be joining the firm’s life sciences health industry group.
