New Orleans-based Adams and Reese has expanded into Florida, adding 60 lawyers and staff from the recession-weary Ruden McClosky.

Ruden McClosky had decided to shutter two offices in St. Petersburg and Sarasota. Adams and Reese decided to take over the offices as a way of entering the Florida market, according to a firm news release and a reports in the Birmingham Business Journal and Sun-Sentinel.

“We are very pleased to have achieved growth this year while many law firms across the country have been making significant reductions,” the firm’s managing partner, Charles P. Adams Jr., said in the release.

Adams said the firm’s plans are to continue to grow the Florida offices. The Florida expansion added 23 lawyers to the firm’s ranks. A regional firm, Adams and Reese now has 280 lawyers in 12 offices.
