A Houston district attorney who resigned earlier this month, ending an investigation over his use of the office e-mail system, is out of a job but not out of a paycheck.

Until his successor is appointed, District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal continues to draw his $160,000 salary as provided for by the state constitution, reports the Houston Chronicle. Alternatively, his salary also would be cut off if he retires, according to officials.

As discussed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post, Rosenthal said his use of prescription drugs impaired his judgment.
