Boosted by a new Australia practice, London-based Allen & Overy saw its gross revenue rise to a record $1.87 billion in the fiscal year that ended at the end of April 2011.

The magic circle firm is “quite pleased” with the year’s financial results, managing partner Wim Dejonghe tells the Am Law Daily.

“We’ve seen a strong performance from our global banking, litigation and capital markets teams, and have continued to invest in our longterm strategy,” he says, despite the difficult economy in recent years.

As the firm increased its partner ranks, however, the average profit per partner stayed at $1.8 million.
