It isn’t just Paula Broadwell who’s lawyered up, amongst those named in a widening scandal involving two current and former four-star U.S. military generals, personal email and and an admitted extramarital affair that led to the resignation of former CIA director David H. Petraeus.

Jill Kelley, a friend of the Petraeus family who reportedly was frightened by hostile email that turned out to be from Broadwell and sought an FBI investigation that led to the discovery of the former general’s affair, also retained counsel some time ago. The 37-year-old Tampa, Fla., resident, who, like Broadwell, is married to a physician and has significant military connections, has retained white-collar criminal defense heavyweight Abbe Lowell, the Am Law Daily reports.

Lowell told the legal publication he was brought in because of a personal friendship: “I have known the Kelley family for 10 years, and when they had a D.C. issue some months ago, they called me because they knew I was here,” he wrote in an email Monday.

Kelley is not accused of any criminal activity. She has also retained a Washington, D.C.-based crisis management firm, Advertising Age reports.
