A federal appeals court has agreed that a $50 million malpractice suit against Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman should be dismissed.
The U.S. Circuit Court for the District of Columbia said the claims by the Capitol Hill Group are barred by res judicata, the National Law Journal reports. The opinion affirmed a ruling by U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth that found the company had a full opportunity to litigate its claims against the law firm in prior hearings and bankruptcy court, the story says.
Capitol Hill Group had contended Pillsbury Winthrop failed to disclose a zoning board order regarding a dispute over required parking spaces on one of its properties. Pillsbury initially represented the group before the board and in bankruptcy proceedings.
