Arnold & Porter opens in Houston, former chief of Hogan Lovells office is at the helm

Arnold & Porter is the latest BigLaw firm to open an office in the hot Houston legal market.

At the helm is Thad Demaris, who formerly served as managing partner of the Hogan Lovells office in Houston, the Houston Business Journal reports. Two ex-Hogan Lovells lawyers have joined him at the new Arnold & Porter office; another Hogan Lovells lawyer is joining Arnold & Porter’s Washington, D.C., office.

A press release from the 800-attorney firm provides additional details. The firm also has offices in California, Denver and New York City, as well as Brussels and London.

It’s a golden age for oil and gas practitioners in Texas, as an ABA Journal feature article discusses.

Among the well-known firms that have entered the Houston market in the last year are K&L Gates, Reed Smith, Husch Blackwell and Katten Muchin Rosenman.
