After testimony in a high-profile divorce case last year suggested that Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt could lose control of the team due to an apparent error by his legal counsel in drafting a postnuptial marital property agreement signed by his ex-wife, Jamie McCourt, he and his then-counsel, Bingham McCutchen, parted ways.

Now McCourt is being represented by the chairman of Sullivan & Cromwell, Joseph Shenker, in the Los Angeles Superior Court case, according to the Los Angeles Times Dodgers Blog.

And Bingham McCutchen has retained Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, apparently gearing up for a possible legal malpractice claim:

“At the very least, they have to be expecting a demand from Frank that they contribute, whether to his legal cost or to a settlement with Jamie,” Michael Dempsey tells the newspaper. A California lawyer, he specializes in legal malpractice and is not involved in the McCourt case.
