The 50 law firms that made this year’s list of the Best Law Firms for Women generally have several policies in common.

All of the law firms on the list have reduced hour policies, and all give lawyers who opt for the lighter schedules the same consideration for bonuses as full-timers, reports Working Mother Media. Ninety percent offer management and leadership training, 80 percent offer mentoring circles, and 78 percent offer full-time telecommuting, according to a press release (PDF). Seventy-eight percent offer backup childcare and 62 percent offer subsidized in-home backup childcare.

The list is compiled by Flex-Time Lawyers and the National Association for Female Executives, a division of Working Mother Media.

The press release quotes NAFE president Dr. Betty Spence. “Our research team has seen an increase in the number of female partners working at the Best Law Firms within the past five years, with women as 19 percent of equity partners, compared to the national average of 15 percent,” she said.
