AT&T Inc. and Verizon Wireless have opted to take their dueling accusations about lying in TV ads out of the courts.

AT&T Inc. agreed to dismiss its suit complaining that Verizon should pull its “There’s a Map for That” commercials. Likewise, Verizon agreed to drop its attempt to force AT&T to declare that its “more bars in more places” was inaccurate, the Associated Press reports.

Verizon filed suit in July after AT&T complained to the National Advertising Division of the Council for Better Business Bureaus about Verizon’s “America’s most reliable wireless network” ad campaign. The AP notes that is the usual forum for resolving such disputes. But that process was suspended when Verizon decided to litigate.

AT&T fired back with a suit in November.

The Wall Street Journal Law Blog notes that AT&T suffered a legal setback last month when a judge rejected its request to pull the ads.
