Attorney accused of harboring a fugitive in his law office gives up law license
A former prosecutor accused last year of harboring a fugitive—his legal assistant—in his law office for several months has given up his license to practice.
The resignation of William Mark Blasdel was accepted by the Oklahoma Supreme Court in a Tuesday opinion (PDF).
He was criminally charged last year with harboring a fugitive, but the Oklahoma County District court case was dismissed within months, reports the Oklahoman. Nonetheless, the incident resulted in an attorney disciplinary investigation.
Blasdel’s legal assistant, Gale Lynn Crislip, 55, was arrested after a search of Blasdel’s office in January 2013. A warrant had been issued for her arrest in an embezzlement case after she was accused of taking a vehicle that did not belong to her at a previous job. She said she thought the car was part of her compensation. An earlier Oklahoman article gives more details about her case.
Blasdel declined the newspaper’s request for comment Tuesday.
