A 65-year-old attorney has been charged with using his computer to access and view child pornography while working for an unidentified Pennsylvania law firm.

A filed probable cause affidavit states George Bock Ditter told investigators that he had come across child pornography while doing research for a book and said “this is where I would say I fell off the cliff, so to speak. I discovered an unknown interest in these images,” a news article by The Reporter recounts.

Montgomery County detectives and police in Upper Gwynedd, where the law firm is located, investigated the case.

The firm said Ditter had worked there as an independent contractor, but the arrangement ended on Oct. 7, the newspaper reports. It pledged full cooperation with authorities.

The probe began when an unidentified partner of the law firm contacted police and said he believed Ditter had used a law firm computer to access child porn, the affidavit says.

A tech firm brought into the firm in early October to investigate an unrelated computer virus came across images that led to the investigation. Law enforcement then got a warrant and searched Ditter’s law firm computer and other electronic devices on Oct. 6, discovering multiple child porn images, the affidavit continues.

Ditter now faces 11 charges in the felony case. At a Wednesday court hearing, unsecured bail of $100,000 was imposed.

A lawyer for Ditter did not return a phone call seeking comment, the newspaper reports.
