After her driving privileges were suspended in Rhode Island, due to a drunken-driving arrest, Layne Savage obtained a license in Massachusetts.

Now the Rhode Island attorney is facing a legal ethics case. She is accused not only of commiting a criminal act that reflects adversely on a lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness or fitness (she took a plea in the drunken-driving case in May) but engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation, due to her Massachusetts driver’s license application, reports the Providence Journal.

In response to application questions about whether her license had been suspended or revoked in another state, she allegedly answered no.

Attorney Gary G. Pelletier is representing Savage and said she believed a grace period was in effect at the time.
