The Florida Bar is warning the state’s lawyers of what it describes as a booking scheme targeting lawyers and the resort hotel at which the group’s annual convention will be held in June.

Lawyers are being called and urged by various companies to book a room at the meeting site, officials say. The problem is, those calling have no affiliation either with the Florida Bar or the resort hotel at which the annual convention will be held, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Representatives of the hotel and the state bar do not make such phone calls, so lawyers are being urged to ignore such phone calls and emails and book reservations only through the hotel itself.
