One of the oldest law firms in Louisiana has been acquired by Beirne Maynard & Parsons, a Houston-based law firm that focuses on civil litigation.
Beirne Maynard & Parsons announced the merger with Lemle & Kelleher in a Jan. 1 press release in which it also said that continued growth is anticipated. The combined firm has about 75 lawyers; the Lemle & Kelleher website lists an attorney roster of 19.
“We are pleased to be joining with a leading firm, recognized for its expertise, depth of resources, and high standard client service,” said Benjamin R. Slater, III in the release. Slater, who was chairman of Lemle & Kelleher and is now managing partner of the New Orleans office, called the merger an important strategic step for both firms.
“We have combined skilled litigation and commercial transaction attorneys while strengthening our international reach and presence along the Gulf Coast,” said Brit T. Brown, who serves as managing partner of Beirne Maynard & Parsons. The release says the firm expects further growth this year in the Gulf Coast region, Texas and Mexico and other international markets and indicates that the the firm is exploring other merger options.
“We’re fortunate to continue growing into new markets, such as San Antonio and now New Orleans, with seasoned and talented attorneys able to offer experienced legal counsel to our clients,” said Martin D. Beirne, the firm’s chairman, in the release. “We expect significant and purposeful growth for the firm in the near future.”
