Big Malaysian Firm Heads to Australia, 1st Asian Legal Shop to Go There
The biggest law firm in Malaysia is planning to establish a presence in Australia by opening offices in Sydney and Melbourne.
The 130-attorney Zaid Ibrahim & Co. is the first Asian firm to receive permission to practice in Australia, according to Bloomberg and the Star.
Chairman Datuk Dr Nik Norzrul Thani says in a written statement that his firm decided to expand into Australia “in view of the tremendous interest in Islamic finance and Shariah-compliant advisory services.”
