A partner at Alston & Bird in Atlanta is hitting the links this week—as a caddy at the 2015 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia.

Lawyer Richard Grice says he managed to secure the spot as a result of a deal with 21-year-old Gunn Yang, the Am Law Daily (sub. req.) reports.

Grice became Yang’s caddy last August when he volunteered to serve in that capacity for any golfer who needed the assistance at the U.S. Amateur Championship. At the time, Yang was ranked No. 776 in the world. After the first practice round, Grice agreed he wouldn’t be paid for the caddying if Yang took one of the top two spots and advanced to the Masters.

Yang kept his end of the deal after he became 2014 U.S. Amateur Champion.

The Am Law Daily reports that Grice was “audibly excited” about his role in the Masters. “It’s a pretty unusual occurrence to be out affecting play in the Super Bowl of golf,” he told the publication.

Grice played golf for a year at the University of Wisconsin and caddies for his children, who are competitive golfers. He tells the Am Law Daily his Masters caddying will be his “last hoorah”—unless Yang wins the Masters. “That will be a life-changer for him and me probably,” Grice says.
