A partner at Reed Smith in Pittsburgh apparently took umbrage at SCOTUSblog’s snarky response to his tweet about the Supreme Court’s decision to accept a case on greenhouse gases.

His Twitter advice to SCOTUSblog: “Go f@ck yourself and die.”

Reed Smith partner Steven Regan has since deleted his Twitter account, but the tweet lives on in a story by Above the Law.

The exchange started with a tweet by Regan that referenced the greenhouse gas case and the Supreme Court’s opinion on the Obama administration health care law, the Affordable Care Act. Regan wrote, “@SCOTUSblog – Don’t screw up this like ACA. No such thing as greenhouse gas. Carbon is necessary for life.”

“Intelligent life?” SCOTUSblog tweeted back in the Oct. 15 exchange.

After Regan’s F-bomb reply, SCOTUSblog tweeted, “Being an expert climatologist / real-estate attorney is very stressful. Breathe. RT”

Above the Law sought comment from Regan in an email, and received an out-of-office response saying he was absent for a family funeral.

Reed Smith issued this statement to the ABA Journal: “The posting of offensive commentary or language on social media is inappropriate and inconsistent with Reed Smith’s social media policy. We are addressing this matter internally.”
